TruckLOG case studies
The client
UTi Logistics has a network of over 175 logistics centres based across 23 countries.
UTi develops specialised client-specific supply chain solutions including contract logistics, domestic ground transportation and transportation management.
The Uti site at Aylesford operates within the contract logistics sector and employs 17 people. It has a mixed fleet of Counter Balance and Reach trucks leased from Linde Material Handling.
The objective
The requirement was for a system that would enable identification of who was causing damage to trucks and racking.
Additionally there was the need to have detailed utilisation figures to ensure the fleet was deployed in a cost effective manner.
The solution
Following consultations between Davis Derby and the customer a full Trucklog Fleet Management system using Smartcard technology was fitted to all counterbalance and reach trucks.
The data is automatically transmitted to a central server and key reports are generated on a weekly basis.
The results
Since its implementation the site has seen a 100% reduction in racking damage saving around twenty thousand pounds per annum.
The utilisation information is enabling under utilised trucks to be redeployed elsewhere within the business.
