Davis Derby celebrate 5 years in Siberia
Davis Derby is a world leader in the design and manufacture of Safety Automation equipment for the underground mining industry and has recently celebrated a milestone in their Russian subsidiary, Davis Derby Siberia based in Novokuznetsk.
The company set up Davis Derby Siberia after entering the Russian market with just three people who provided technical support for their customers in the Kuzbass Region. Since then the business has grown to employ fourteen people with engineers based in Novokuznetsk and Leninkuznetsk and now has plans to establish a permanent engineering resource in the Russian Far East.
The business expanded in line with the ambitious business plans Davis Derby drew up and Davis Derby Siberia now has an annual turnover of more than £2million.
Paul Briggs, Business Director of Davis Derby, explains: “We have established some really strong relationships with our partners in the region and it is these links that have helped us to expand since we started in 2008”.
“We now provide a wide range of products that have a high demand in this market including underground mining safety, conveyor and gas monitoring equipment. Our operation in Novokuznetsk is perfectly located to supply products into Russia, the Far East and a number of surrounding regions.”
Peter Rudnev, General Director of Davis Derby Siberia describes the continuing demand that is driving growth in this region: “Since establishing our operations in 2008 we have seen a number of changes in the industry but growth in underground mining is still strong in Siberia. With a combination of new mines being explored and established mines being expanded there is a higher demand for safety automation systems to both protect the mine workers and increase productivity”.
“Davis Derby is working closely with a number of mining companies and Russian equipment suppliers enabling us to establish strong relationships with key partners. Davis Derby continues to develop our business in Russia and we are now supplying substantial contracts to mines from Rostov in the West to Urgalugol in the Far East”
